Codification:
"Codification is the process of compiling rules and laws into an orderly, formal system, or code." - Cornell Law School
Hello Champions, and welcome to an unusual article from The Council of Eldritch Judgement. In this article we're going to discuss how we want to finalize and wind down this Community Balance Pass we've been working on for the past three or four months.
First, a status update. As you can see on the Community Balance Pass Status Log we’ve finally created at least a version 1 of all 15 champions we planned to address in this pass. We’re happy with some, and not so happy with others. While we’re continuing to playtest v2s and possibly even v3s, there are some that will soon be ready to codify, like we did Raith’Marid. However, we want something approaching consensus in our codification, and just decreeing that a champion is done works counter to that. While we’re not going back on codifying Raith, we are changing our method for codification going forwards.
Going forward, the Council will propose Champions that have been thoroughly playtested and that we feel are ready to codify in articles on Objective Hex, like this one. We will create a Google form that will ask how ready you, the player, feel the changes are for prime time. We will wait one week for that form to be filled out, and then with community backing in hand, we’ll either codify the Champion or go back for another round of playtesting.
So, let’s get started!
First up we have Rattlebone! Our v2 has been working out quite well in testing. Cursed Ground is worth using, her passive is in a good spot, the Hexlings aren’t having to clump up so much.
To vote on whether her v2 version should be codified as the Community Balance Pass version, click on this link to the form and fill it out.
Secondly we have Morrigan! The ice lich has been having more impact in more games since her v1 changes came through. We dialed back her Cold Bones a hair with our v2 changes, and they seem to be in a good place overall.
To vote on whether her v2 version should be codified as the Community Balance Pass version, click on this link to the form and fill it out.
=====================
However, there are some Champions we need more feedback and data on before we can codify them. Right now, we don’t seem to have enough data on Lily or Nia to make any decisions on them. Please get some games in with them and let us know how they feel with their v1 changes.
That's all for this week, Champions. Wooloolool,
The Council of Eldritch Judgement
